For publicly funded K-12 schools in Canada outside Quebec, Access Copyright (formerly Cancopy) has allowed that "educators can legally copy what they need when they need it without having to personally obtain permission. Educators have immediate access, under the tariff, to photocopy portions of a comprehensive and vast repertoire of books, magazines, journals and newspapers." (See source.) Teachers are advised to learn how Access Copyright applies to their jurisdiction if at all.

"Fair Use" (such as research, teaching, and scholarship) under US Copyright Law is broader than "Fair Dealing" (such as research, private study, criticism and review) under Canadian, UK and Australian Copyright Law.
